and greetings to you all.

On behalf of the University of Canterbury | Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha organising committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 2024 ANZSOC Conference.

The theme for the 2024 Conference is “Navigating Variance: Intersectionality in Criminology.” We are thrilled to host this important event in Ōtautahi Christchurch, a city renowned for its resilience, innovation, and vibrant cultural scene.

The University of Canterbury is proud to provide a venue where academics, practitioners, and policymakers can deepen their knowledge of criminal justice, criminology, sociology, and related disciplines. This conference offers an excellent opportunity to engage with the latest developments in these fields through a diverse range of presentations, workshops, and panel discussions led by experts and researchers from around the world.

Attendees will have the chance to connect with colleagues and peers, share their research findings, and receive valuable feedback on their work. The conference also serves as a fantastic platform for networking, enabling attendees to form new connections and collaborate on future research projects.

Beyond the formal programme, we have organised various social events that highlight the unique charm of Christchurch. Known for its stunning natural landscapes, Christchurch offers numerous opportunities for exploration and enjoyment. From the picturesque Botanic Gardens to the delectable offerings of the Riverside Market, there is no shortage of places to visit and experiences to enjoy in the city. Think about adding some extra time to your trip to explore the beaches, mountains, and braided rivers of Te Waipounamu South Island.

The University of Canterbury itself is a hub of academic excellence and innovation. With a strong commitment to research and community engagement, our institution provides an inspiring environment for learning and collaboration. We are excited to showcase our leafy campus and facilities to all attendees.

We look forward to welcoming you to Christchurch for a fulfilling and enriching conference experience.
